At OneKind we have a small team who make a big impact with the help of lots of fantastic volunteers. Read on to find out more about our fantastic team who work tirelessly to make change happen!
Bob Elliot, Director
Bob started working for OneKind in October 2018 having previously worked in the nature conservation and welfare sector for nearly 25 years. This included posts at The National Trust for Scotland, The Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and latterly as the Head of Investigations for the RSPB, managing and overseeing the detection and investigation of serious wildlife crime cases. Bob was delighted to be offered the Director role for OneKind being given the opportunity to lead a respected and evidence led welfare organisation to help make a difference for animals in Scotland, exposing the cruelty and persecution so often encountered in our domestic, farmed and wild animals. When not at work Bob can be found leading nature tours, watching wildlife and sea kayaking.
Eve Massie, Campaigner and Press Officer
Eve Massie is the Campaigner and Press Officer at OneKind. Eve started working for OneKind in July 2019, having previously worked as a Researcher for several animal welfare organisations and as the Social Media Manager for a vegan business. She became involved in animal welfare at the age of 7 and after completing a legal internship with international non-profit, Mercy For Animals, whilst at law school, Eve decided to advocate for animals full-time. Eve was delighted to join the OneKind team to improve the lives of Scotland’s animals and spends her days working on campaigns, securing media coverage and running the social media channels. In her spare time, Eve can be found experimenting with vegan recipes, reading non-fiction and spending time outdoors with her rescue greyhound, Bob. Email Eve at eve.massie@onekind.org
Lauren Semple, Fundraising and Communications Officer
Lauren is the Fundraiser at OneKind with almost 16 years’ experience in the sector. She has worked with OneKind for a number of years in different forms, raising money through their appeals and campaigns as a telephone fundraiser, and has volunteered for them before starting this post. Prior to working with OneKind, Lauren was Director of fundraising agency, Karat Marketing, a key figure in raising over £750k for charities across the UK, and is delighted to bring her experience and skills to the charity. She is passionate about animals and their welfare. She looks after OneKind’s members, supporters and challenge events and is also responsible for ensuring OneKind continues to grow its supporter base to give Scotland’s animals an even louder voice! Outside of work Lauren spends a lot of time advocating for animals, enjoying the outdoors, trying new vegan recipes, drawing, travelling, or chilling out with her cats, Monkey and Banana. Kirsty Jenkins, Policy Officer
Kirsty started out by doing research and report writing for OneKind, before moving into the policy role in 2020. Previously she trained horses, worked to increase understanding between humans and horses, and rehabilitated horses who had experienced trauma or the stresses of a human imposed lifestyle. This included, amongst other things, trust-building with wild mustangs and abused rescue horses in California, early education of young foals in New Zealand, and conducting clinics for grooms in Zimbabwe to enhance human-horse relationships. Kirsty also has experience working in wildlife conservation, and has done some work with farmed and companion animals, in various countries and contexts. She has an MSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and has more recently moved to desk-based means of advocating for animals. She feels lucky to be part of the close, dedicated team at OneKind. She keeps track of changes to the Scottish and international animal welfare landscape to inform our campaigns, and works with partners to try to influence legislative change. Outside of work, Kirsty can often be found in wild places, climbing mountains or watching wildlife. Email Kirsty at kirsty.jenkins@onekind.org
