Advocates for Animals was instrumental in getting the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 passed. The bill to ban hunting with dogs in Scotland was passed after a debate lasting more than six hours.
The bill was introduced by sports minister Mike Watson two years previously, however it was not a complete ban, a provision to flush foxes to guns remained.
