Members are at the heart of OneKind Scotland – without your support, we couldn’t be the strong voice for Scotland’s animals that we are today. We want to share our members’ stories, and highlight their passion and commitment to animal welfare, so we’ll be putting the spotlight on a different member each fortnight.
Today, meet Elaine, a self-confessed eccentric animal lover!
Describe yourself in a sentence.
A slightly eccentric animal lover.
Why did you join OneKind?
Because I feed the local wildlife I wanted to support a local animal welfare group.
What’s an issue relating to animal welfare that you’re particularly passionate about?
Illegal fox hunting – I feed foxes and badgers in my back garden and get great pleasure from doing so. But there are many other animal related issues that I am passionate about.
If you had to pick one native Scottish animal as a favourite, what would it be?
Fox.
Tell us about about your current pet, or your favourite past pet?
We have a 14 year old rescued lurcher from GAL that we have owned since she was 3 mths. Rocky came from the cat and dog home at about 4 and he was such a character bless him. We had him for over 10 years.
What’s on your current music playlist?
My what ???? I am 65 and not very PC lol but I have a huge variety of favourites from the 60’s and 70’s with some ballet music and heavy rock thrown in !
What’s one thing you’d really like to do before the end of 2017?
I would like to gain the trust of one of the many foxes I feed.
