Swallows plummet from
sky to coast, flutter on by
a bridge too high,
hearing rivers bubble and
other birds gurgle.
They teach of togetherness;
while in nearness and fairness
they’ll swoop to help and hold,
coorie under eaves; support each
other in acrobatic dives.
Lives of flying friends, feather-coated
in red and blue chirping a concern
about the future that’s true.
What will they do
as the world falls through the cracks?
