Tides of screaming wash over me
I see them everywhere
Their silhouettes in the trees
Bearing witness
A trauma unparalleled
Even by moments of seize
The furor
The madness
Never go still
A demand for silence
Despair’s will
How easy it is
The condemnation of those
Deaf of ear
Blind of eye
Grasping for a shadow
Of the bliss peddled by ignorance
And worse yet
Are those colder than stone
In whose eyes lethal indifference is shone
Stripped of flesh
Bones laid bare
Naked to the eye
A vacant stare
Atrocities aged to time’s peer
Withering in wait
The threat of resign clear
A path cemented in sorrow
Bonds born of blood
Against the terror mirrored on the morrow
Can I not write a comforting line?
A four letter whisper on the wind
Turned away from the mind
And yet as grey can still keep the sky alight
Their eyes reveal pools from which to draw viscerally-forged might
