Last week we got in touch with our supporters to ask for their help as financial services company, Ecclesiastical ran a 12 Days of Giving competition.
The scheme was designed to provide vital funding to charities by donating £1,000 to 120 organisations over 12 days. To a small charity such as ourselves, £1000 is a lot of money! It makes a huge difference to the work we do to end animal cruelty in Scotland.
We’re delighted to report that our supporters took to Ecclesiastical’s website in wonderful numbers – putting us forward as their favourite charity. Yesterday, on a rather chilly Thursday afternoon, our little office team were ecstatic to learn that we’d been awarded one of the £1000 prizes!
Ecclesiastical had already given £27.5m to charity and, as part of their ‘giving scheme’, each employee has access to a personal grant of £125. The grant can be given to a charity of their choice and is doubled if it’s one that the individual has volunteered for.
We can’t thank them enough for choosing us as one of their special ‘12 day’ winners! We’re encouraged to see them acknowledge the nation’s empathy for animal welfare issues. We’re also excited to see a few familiar faces on their winners list (they awarded £1000 to Lothian Cat Rescue and The League Against Cruel Sports).
An enormous THANK YOU to all our supporters who took the time to nominate us. Most importantly, a very special thank you to our Edinburgh volunteer Andrew, who first drew our attention to this fantastic competition and made it all possible. Andrew was also the driving force for our ‘Caged Farm Animal’ demo back in September and we’d love to acknowledge the time he has committed to supporting our team this year.
That’s wonderful. Congratulations.
